THE BLACK MARKET

The Black Market is a large, low-roofed warehouse between the two bridges connecting The Society of the Flood's island to the mainland.Once a twoleg fish market, it has become the beating heart of the Society. Flood-born cats are the only ones allowed to set up shop, with Bluebottles patrolling to enforce this policy, but any cat of any faction may come to barter and trade. Feathers, sea glass, jewelry, shells, pearls, cured fish, piercings and even kits are sold here in exchange for a precious commodity: herbs. Not a single herb save for emberleaf and lavender grows on the Society's scruffy island of docks and shingles, leaving them almost entirely reliant on the imports of the market.

SHELL TOSS...Flat shells are carved with an X on one side and an O on the other. Cats like to bet on which side will land face-up after the shell is tossed high into the air.

UNDERPAW ADOPTION...This half-secret orphanage isn't exclusively for Flood cats; anyone can adopt a kit for whatever purpose, though they come at a price for outsiders...

THE DEADENDS...come back later.

MARBLE FALL...A marble is dropped down a board with pegs poking through the wood. Cats bet on which hole the marble will end up in at the end.

RAT RING...Two rats are pitted against eachother in a ring. Cats bet on which they believe will be the victor. The game is given its flair by the rats' disease-bred aggression.

THE LANES...come back later.

DARK FOREST

The Dark Forest is the region's only all-powerful deity. This collection of cats may have the living cats' interests in mind, but are not above playing favorites, having biases, and toying with the fates of the factions.Nearly all of the cats in The Dark Forest are cats who died before the Extinction or fallen souls from the former Starclan; only a small number are from the existing factions. Those who came from Starclan are those who protested the punishment of the original clans and were banished to the Place of No Stars.Today's Dark Forest is a twisted, convoluted force, neither purely benevolent nor entirely malevolent. Opposing schools of thought dictate its function, and it often operates in mysterious, unknowable ways.

THEIR DARK CONNECTION...The Dark Forest interacts more frequently with the factions than Starclan ever did, but thanks to their fear of the present-day Starclan's abuse, and their detachment from the afterlife, this communication is a little more difficult to achieve.- For Beasts and Blood, it is simple; The Dark Forest visits the Warlocks in their dreams, appearing to other cats as shadows or animal shapes. Forest-sent animals can be identified by their blood-moon eyes, a deep, unnatural sanguine red in shade.- For The Corvid Colony, the Dark Forest embodies either crows and ravens; very rarely, they will take the form of a hare. Oblivious to the creatures' true master, the Colony often assumes these visitations are designed at the hand of DEATH herself.- The Society of the Flood's fervent atheism makes communication nigh-impossible. These waterside cats write off Forest-sent apparitions as sea monsters from the depths below.- As for The Children of Starlight, The Dark Forest seldom even tries to reach out to the feverish cult. They know where The Children's loyalty lies, and choose to focus their efforts elsewhere, on the factions that may be more receptive to their attentions.

THE ETERNAL MIST...When Starclan separated the stars from the mortal realm, they took the pathway to the afterlife as well. Now, newly-departed souls are left to claw at the gates of The Place of No Stars, stranded between life and death. This hopeless space is known as the Eternal Mist - a void of thick fog that clouds the vision of the wandering souls. The Eternal Mist is neither here nor there. Its very fabric is thin, sometimes allowing souls to slip through and return to the mortal plane as lantern flies or ravens above The Colony's terrain. Rarely, souls are taken from The Mist deliberately, reincarnated or resurrected by The Dark Forest itself.Because the mist is so thin, souls may end up interacting with the mortal world in unusual ways. Their constant crying may be heard in the dead of night, or the giggle of long-lost kits. This is the source of inspiration for the folklore in Society of the Flood.Because this veil is so thin, the dead may interact with the living in unusual ways. Their constant wailing may be heard in the dead of night; occasionally, long-gone kits can be heard giggling far away. The Society's folklore is heavily influenced by these traces of death.

THE PAST

this page is best viewed on desktop or in desktop mode.
each faction's in-depth history can be found on their individual pages.

THE FIRST SIN

When Shadow, Thunder, Wind, and River all lived peacefully together under the guidance and protection of Starclan, sharing the suffix clan. Their territory was facing problems of its own as humans began to become an ever more involved part of their lives; the rivers became polluted, the forest chopped down, the moors and fields turned barren and the swamps dried up. This followed them wherever they went, no stone left untouched by the human's imprint...Desperate times called for desperate measures as the strain of their ever-dying world was becoming their reality, inescapable no matter where they went. The first to give in to their struggling urges was Shadowclan; they had found little support in their sister clans when times grew hard. The sense of unity held under Starclan had become a false lie to them, and so they turned to other means of support; the cats of the city. Shadowclan found the city ever encroaching upon their territory, engulfing them one building at a time. Why shy away from this? Bloodclan - a collection of city strays - offered them a helping paw in adapting and so, Shadowclan offered them support in return.Meanwhile, the moorlands of Windclan were becoming inhabitable. They were feeling the effects of overhunting, suddenly hit by a famine that had no end in sight. Hunger drove them to insanity until they finally gave in to their most primal urges and tasted the flesh of a feline...Deep within the forest - isolated from the other clans - Thunderclans mind was slipping. A mad leader, spurred on by his equally deranged medicine cat, had become delusional with the "calls of Starclan." These visions were little more than the symptoms of poisoning following a toxin spill in their water supply. Under their false prophecies, a kitten was murdered and her blood spilt, staining the ground red.Whilst the other clans fell into misery and desperation, Riverclan had turned their backs on them entirely. Cutting themselves off from the other clans as much as they could socially, Riverclan had declined any chance to help. They did not offer a home to Shadowclan; Fish for Windclan; or Fresh water for Thunderclan. Instead, they scoffed and pulled away, but this only sealed their fates further.Declaring themselves more resilient than the other Clans, Riverclan did not know what was yet to come. A sickness drowned the clan, and almost three-quarters of their population fell dead. Old wounds and scars would begin to open again and fester with infection, whilst fatigue left other cats unable to twitch a whisker.Horrified at what their Clans had resolved to do, Starclan grew disgusted. The Clans must be punished! It had been decided by their ancestors, that these cats must pay for their crimes and show that the paths they walk down will only lead to further misery and madness. But, not every cat in Silverpelt believed in this method. Hitting a bad dog will not teach it to behave! A divide was caused, but it was an unfair divide; those cats that did not wish to see the Clans suffer anymore were bashed; fallen stars, they fell. These cats would end up in the Place of No Stars. For now, they were powerless. Left to endure the horror that was above to unfold.

THE EXTINCTION

During a gathering - Riverclan not present as they had not attended any gathering within the last four moons - Starclan sent an intense message to the Clans of Shadow, Thunder, and Wind;WE HAVE WATCHED IN TERROR AS THE CLANS HAVE COMMITTED ACTS NO MOTHER COULD LOVE. WE HAVE FAILED YOU, IT IS TIME THE STORY OF RIVER, WIND, THUNDER, AND SHADOW END. WE WILL RID THIS FOREST OF LIVING CATS IN HOPES OF STARTING ANEW AND LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.

FOR YOUR SINS, YOU WILL EACH BARE A BLIGHT.

SHADOWCLAN; AS YOU CHOOSE TO CONJUGATE WITH THE ANIMALS OF THE CITY, YOU WILL TAKE ON THE APPEARANCE OF BEASTS.

THUNDERCLAN; FOR YOUR TERRIBLE ACTS OF KIT SLAUGHTER, HAVE THE PARASITE OF FEAR ATTACHED TO YOUR MINDS AND SUFFER THE SAME TERROR THAT THE CHILD DID.

WINDCLAN; FOR YOUR CANNIBALISTIC WAYS OF CONSUMING OTHERS OF THE SAME BLOOD, BE CURSED WITH THE PAIN OF HUNGER FOREVER IN YOUR STOMACHS.

RIVERCLAN; WHILST NOT ATTENDING, YOU WILL-
The moon began to turn red; a deep crimson, the colour of freshly spilt blood. Lightning crashed above them, become the boom of thunder followed. The cat's attention was caught as a voice just as deep and demanding followed the stormy sound.STARCLAN WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CAUSE THE EXTINCTION OF THE CLANS BECAUSE OF THEIR IGNORANCE. THE ACTS OF THE CLANS WERE ACTS OF DESPERATION, CRIES FOR HELP; CRIES THAT STARCLAN HAVE BEEN DEAF TO.Stars began to fall from the sky. Fear and anger washed across the three clans in a way Starclan had not predicted, but the Clans were powerless, only able to watch the back and forth between Starclan and The Dark Forest whilst their fates were hanging in the balance.WHAT’S DONE IS DONE! THE WATERLESS FLOOD WILL WASH OVER THESE TERRITORIES. MAY YOUR DEATHS BE AS PAINFUL AS THE DEATHS CAUSED AT YOUR PAWS, THUNDERCLAN AND WINDCLAN...Before any cat had a chance to process the horrors about to await.Starclan were gone, and the clear blue sky turned black and starless, only the moon left to watch mournfully as panic spread across the three attending clans. However, their fates were not entirely sealed.Do not fear. Whilst Starclan may aim to exterminate this place, there will be survival. There cannot be a Starclan without The Dark Forest and so long as we exist, there will be clans on the mortal earth. The Place of No Stars will guide you through this Extinction. With that, the gathering was over. It was clear that these living cats - those that had survived the horrors they faced - were little more than pawns in the grand scheme that Starclan were plotting. Each clan went home, anxiously awaiting The Waterless Flood...

THE WATERLESS FLOOD

The waterless flood came a few days later; an invisible sickness spread through the air like stardust and every kit within the clans died; only the runts and last born in the litter kits were spared.A whole generation of cats gone within a single night, drowned for their parent's sins. Nobody is quite sure where the kittens' souls ended up, neither the Dark Forest nor Starclan claimed them. It's rumoured you can hear the giggle of kits and the little sounds of their paw steps during the first few nights that follow Blood Moons.Riverclan had no kittens left when the Waterless Flood reached them, the sickness taking them all first. The isolated Clan did not know anything related to the events of the gathering, but they had lost their faith in Starclan moons ago, positioning themselves as too good to rely on a godly entity. The weeks that followed were a living nightmare as each clan felt the full weight of their curse begin to settle.Striving off hunger with their cannibalism, Windclan had decided to allow hares to return to the landscape before hunting them, but they noticed this did not happen as the green grass of their moors turned thin and dry, unappetizing to any animal they may feast upon. Two litters that had yet to be born within Shadowclan were birthed, but had strange rock-like bumps upon their heads; the budding beginnings of horns. One kit was completely white with milky eyes, another had deformed back paws that were similar to hooves to paws, and another kit had two faces, sharing and clinging onto one head. All the kittens shared a varying degree of deformity.Following the wrath of Starclan, fear had petrified Thunderclan. They drove deeper into their obsession with pleasing the gods, executing anyone who dared even suggest that the Dark Forest may hold the answers they seek. Crazy and paranoid, Thunderclan began to spiral into insanity.Shadowclan completely disregarded Starclan, turning their beliefs and hopes and desperation to the Dark Forest, who welcomed the worship of them. Windclan believed there to be only one god in this world; death. It was guaranteed. They were careful, avoiding both mentions of Silverpelt and the Place of No Stars.

THE CITY

After the devastating effects of the Extinction events, their world only grew darker. Already accustomed to the city, Shadowclan sought out comfort within its walls. The urban jungle had once been bustling with human life but now? The humans were dying off quicker than they were; every day they left, and with them, they took their food. But within the brutalist city, Bloodclan resided. Their kits had also begun to be born with oddities about them. In honour of a new future together where they would pride their kits and their differences, Bloodclan and Shadowclan joined together under the new name of Beast and Blood.Seeking a better landscape where a consistent prey source may be, Windclan began to slowly trickle further and further away from the Moorlands. They found themselves within the bare bones of the city's outskirts, living amongst the human trains. At first, the trains were constant; terrifying monsters of power and noise that would slice a cat in two, but slowly, Windclan realised that many animals were caught beneath the iron beasts' wheels. Free food that didn't require a hunt. They settled amongst the trains, finding shelter in the large train compartment that had been forgotten about, and food along the train tracks.Windclan began to notice they weren't the only animals utilising the human's transportation for scavenging; they were incredibly quick to utilise the crows and use them to find meals easily. Finding hope here, they took on the name Corvid Colony, as one final goodbye to Starclan. Windclan died that night, consumed by the Corvid Colony. The last to dare glance towards the city was Thunderclan. A forest fire - suspected to be lit by Starclan themselves - completely ripped through their oak forest, destroying every single tree branch, leaf, and blade of grass in its path. It drove those who survived the fire into the northern city district. When Thunderclan arrived in the city, a thick smog of toxins filled the air, driving the remaining cats up high into tall tower blocks. Above the smog, above the clouds, and into the sky.The toxins of the city had already crept into their leader's mind; he fell once they arrived in their new camp - an old art studio - as his body convulsed; a seizure induced by the injection of poisonous air.The seizure was assumed to be a message from Starclan! When he recovered, shaking and weakened, his eyes were bright; They were destined to be here! They had been blessed in the fire and a new name gifted to them; Children of StarlightForgotten about and struggling, an incredibly small band of cats - that had somehow outlived the plague that swept across Riverclan - found their way into the city. They had gone to the coast first, the salt water helping clean their wounds and the fresh ocean air clearing their lungs from the stench of death. They could not return to their home territory, the place littered with the decaying bodies of their clanmates. Their camp had become a mass grave of dead Riverclan Cats. Whatever was making them sick still lingered on the earth, but the collection of car access was bringing their illness with them. They had travelled up the coastline for a whole moon; learning to utilise their river fishing techniques to hunt and scavenge along the shoreline and food themselves. They arrived upon a deserted island off the coast of the human city. A handful of humans still fished here, supplying the cats with the food they needed to begin a new life. Here, Riverclan settled. It wasn't until they stumbled upon a cat from Corvid Colony who informed them of the events of the last gathering held. Riverclan took it as a sign that they were above Starclan's decision to wipe the forest clean of Clan cats, hence why they were left out of the curses! They kept their past close to their chest, locked away in a Pandora's box. If each of the clans had taken on new names, why shouldn't they? The tiny collection of cats who stilled called themselves Riverclan left that name at sea, dubbing themselves Society of the Flood, both as a reminder to the other clans that they had been spared (in their eyes), and in honour of the sea, their new life source.

GLOSSARY

EVENTS

THE EXTINCTION...
The night of Starclan's disappearance and abandonment of the clans - the night upon which everything went wrong. This can also be referred to as "The Extinction Event" or "The Extinction of the Stars."
THE WATERLESS FLOOD...
The massive, instantaneous wave of death sent by Starclan. Kits were struck down across all clans, cutting the population in half. It is unclear if the deaths were caused by sickness or an unseen physical blow.
THE FIRST SIN...
Prior to The Extinction, each clan committed their accursed original sins - the acts that Starclan saw as irredeemable. "The First Sin" can be used to refer to any individual clan's actions, and is also all-encompassing.
- Shadowclan welcomed encroaching industry and accepted outside aid.
- Windclan succumbed to their cannibalistic hunger.
- Thunderclan followed a false prophet's commands and slaughtered an innocent child.
- Riverclan shunned all others, closing in upon themselves and denying the other clans aid.

THE CLANS' CURSE...
This refers to the curse set upon each faction by Starclan.
- Beasts and Blood were cursed with their trademark mutations and deformities, caused in truth by radiation.
- The Children of Starlight were cursed with delusion and dread, isolated by their own fear, caused in truth by lead poisoning.
- The Corvid Colony was cursed with famine and a lack of consistent prey, caused in truth by human presence and pollution.
- The Society of the Flood was cursed with eternal disease and bone-deep chill, caused in truth by their local climate and polluted waterways.
THE BLOOD MOON...
Once every lunar cycle, the full moon seeps a deep, sanguine red. Many factions view this unusual moon with frightened superstition.
THE HUNT...
The Corvid Colony sets out beneath the blood moon to hunt other cats as prey, setting loose prior-taken prisoners or ambushing other factions for their feast.
"THE HARE OF THE HUNT..."
A dehumanizing name assigned to the target of The Corvid Colony's hunts, typically to cats who were taken prisoner for the purpose of devouring.

SLANG

"DISEASED..."
Cats plagued by incurable illness are said to be diseased, spat out with venom on the tongue. Body bombs and dock coughs are common culprits.
"BLOOD SOAKED..."
A fond term for an incredibly skilled warrior in Beasts and Blood.
In Children of Starlight, its a derogatory term for a kit born beneath The Blood Moon.

"PISSFUR..."
Someone who smells bad!
"JUBILEED-OUT..."
On the brink of being overly affected by the fermented Jubilee Juice; cats become wreckless and cocky.
"CARRION-BREATH..."
A venomous insult directed toward The Corvid Colony, given for their lack of discrimination between fresh prey and an already-rotting carcass.

ILLNESS

BODY BOMBS...
Due to the radiation seeping into their territory, cancer is increasingly common among the factions, particular for Beasts and Blood. The resulting tumors are referred to as body bombs due to their unpredictable behavior.
THE LONG DEATH...
A fatal disease that commonly afflicts The Colony, likely due to their ingestion of feline tissue. Afflicted cats slowly waste away, losing all sense of self and any higher function. They exist as drooling, dizzied corpses, stumbling blind until they drop in an emaciated heap.

KRAKEN'S KISS...
A disease native to the Society that causes sucker-like boils all across the body; these can burst, spreading their infection further. Affected cats are said to have been kissed by the Kraken.
DOCK COUGH...
An incurable disease native to the Society that functions similarly to greencough, with a much higher mortality rate. It is marked by white flesh of the tongue and throat, and a deep cough that soon grows bloody. It always ends in corpselike fatigue or death.
BLACK LUNG/HEART...
A sickness that blackens different organs: mainly lungs and hearts, it will coat or fill these important organs with a black tar-like substance. This is mainly found in Society of the Flood but not exclusive to their islands. No Cure. Rumoured to be contagious but is not.

THE CITY

EXTINCTION takes place in a gothic victorian era city set during the industrial revolution. Our fictional city had access to chemicals and nuclear energy not suited to this area.

NORTH SQUARE
children of starlight...

The divide in class is clear in this city by the drastic contrast between the City Centre and then the North Square; in the north of the city, out of the outskirts of the dense city, this district of the city is a combination of high-quality buildings that loom higher than the rest of the city; the tall building resembles more of a wall. To keep things out, or to keep things in... which, is unclear. The buildings are a layered city of their own; the first several floors act as shops, restaurants, spas, and other high-end retail spaces. Above them, the floors turn into hotel rooms, apartments, and living spaces. In the centre of these tall highrise buildings is a park; once private and only accessible to those paying to stay in these pricey buildings, the park is now overgrown.CRIMSON PARK... Tall aspen trees have filled the park to the brim; mutated by the radiation and toxins of the city, their once straight tree trunks are now twisted. Growing left, right, up, down, twisting and turning. Their crowns - orange in winter, green in spring - now take on a permanently hot colour; crimson, amber, yellow. The trees look like they're on fire in the summer sun, now permanently dawning their cold season colours.
Park Pond: Within the park is a pond! Now overgrown, it's thriving with frogs and little fish, ducks, and over fresh-water animals. Although, the water isn't very fresh... Toxins of the city seep into the water from the ground, the same toxins that warp the trees surrounding the pond.
ROOFTOP GARDENS... The rooftops of these buildings hover just dangerously above the toxic fog that slowly migrates around the city, wherever the wind takes it. The rooftops are covered in overgrowing gardens, abandoned garden furniture, algae filled pools.CONCRETE STREAM... A burst water pipe has been throwing water rapidly down a tall set of concrete stairs for the better part of two years. The water has shaped the surrounding stone and stairs. The water lands at the bottom of the main square, flowing through the road that surrounds the park. Excess water flows into the sewers, but there's enough water to keep a shallow flow, turning the road into a manmade stream.

SUNKEN CENTRE
beasts and blood...

The city centre is an gothic jungle; a combination of industrial buildings and brutalist architecture; the heart of the city is all red brick and rusted steel. With the humans touch ever decaying, the greenery of mother nature is beginning to return as her ivy grip chokes the city tightly.FLOODED STREETS... The buildings in the city are lower than the North Square highrises and half sunken in a swamp-like state with shallow fresh water, the deepest water being around 20 inch / 50cm in depth, otherwise the general flooding reaches a cat's stomach. The city is thriving with freshwater plants and animals alike; the water itself is thick with radiation that mutates the animals that rely on it. Many above-water windows are stained green with allege, creating a deep green colour across the city as light shines through. The streets are tight and maze-like, surrounding the main territory location of Beasts and Blood. Whilst Magpies may know the overhead cities train tracks and rooftops, Beasts know the city streets like nobody else. Any cat not born in the radiation soaked city may find themselves lost in these tight streets.SUNFLOWER BOULEVARDS... A large open street - one of the drier places - now has oversized sunflowers growing wildly out of every flowerbed that once decorated the pavements. The sunflowers are massive, looming at twelve feet tall, with gigantic mutated heads. The large flower heads of these plants offers great protection from the scorching summer sun.CITY STEPS... Within the heart of the city - where buskers used to play, beggers used to perch on street corners, and thieves would steal from back pockets - is a large open area that acted as the city centre with City Hall overseeing the courtyard. A huge statue of a bear sits in the centre of the courtyard. City steps lead up to the City Hall; A huge, grand building with columns and fine craftsmen ship. City meetings held in its towering, echoing hall. The floor is filled with newspapers, with inky black and white pictures of a large mushroom-like shape. It's a shame the cats can't read...HOWLING ZOO... The zoo is a large area with concrete and stone enclosures, iron bars and metal fences lining each one. It's a depressing place, where depressed animals once passed back and forth in captivity. The animals are free now; the monkeys scream throughout the city and the bears roam the undergrowth. The panthers linger in the shadows and the deer have flourished in the city waters.Their enclosures remain, a timestamp of human cruelty. Their enclosures now act as a place for Beasts and Blood cats to thrive. The bear's pit - a large concrete habitat sunken in the ground, circular with the human's viewing path circling it entirely - is used as the Midnight fight clubs location.

THE DEADMOORS
corvid coloney...

To the north-west of the city is the cities outskirts, where trains would arrive carrying large cargos of coal and fuel. Unlike the other factions, Corvid Coloney has the most natural territory. However, it has ended up the most dead. Nicknamed the Deadmoors after the state the humans left it, the landscape has been sucked dry of anything it once had to offer. The ground, dry and dusty, bears the scars of industrial decay—empty railcars lie abandoned, their wheels buried into the dead dirt. Sparse, brittle vegetation clings in small patches of areas but the moorland itself is almost lifeless; a vast expanse where the rough wind from the cliffs carries only the distant sounds of crows cawing. The air is thick with the tang of rust and dust and smog; the horizon is bleak, offering nothing but more desolation. Trapped between wild wastelands, the city, and the steep cliffs dropping off where they meet the territory.THE TRAIN-STATION... The train station is a huge hollow building; its large arched roof makes it the perfect place for birds to perch and nest in. A brilliant location for nest raiding and egg stealing. Although, if a train does arrive, this is the location it'll pull into.GROWLING MARSH... To the west, the furthest point from the city, is a small marshland-swamp area. It's intensely thick and deep with a horrid mud-water mixture, however, it's one of the very few points in their territory to contain possible prey. If you're willing to risk drowning in the engulfing quick mud of the marsh, you may obtain a fresh meal... A gas emits from the swamp also; not an intense toxic fog, but masks are advised for this area.COLD CEMETERY... A huge area of stone heads and large statues dedicated to dead humans, this iron fenced area of greenery is like a maze. Most traps for catching outsiders are found here; funnelled into the fenced off city's cemetery with its large iron and stone walls, where they will no doubt fall victim to the Corvid Colony's traps.FORGOTTEN CHURCH... The main roosting area for the faction's crows, the large church, has been forgotten about long before anyone left the city. Its old stone walls have moss and lichen climbing up it, ivy eating away at the churches bricks as it turns into a living breathing plant of its own. During strong winds, the church bell may toll... The clan's main source of fungi comes from this location; the dark, moist conditions make for perfect mushroom growing conditions.SEA OF GRASS... Incredibly large area of grass taller than the tallest twoleg! The grass offers protection from birds of prey, whilst also making another perfect place to set more traps. Corvid Colony cats use a system of burrows to navigate this area; using the tunnels to go straight to each trap. Herbs grow amongst the grass, enough light let in to encourage plant growth.

SOUTHERN DOCKS
society of the flood...

Society of the Flood resides on a large collection rocky islands off the southern coast of the city. The rocks had little to no life on them before the twolegs came and built impressive dockyards on them, connecting the half-floating builtup islands to the main land via two stone bridges.Tall, wrought-iron gas lampposts line the docks, casting no light anymore now humans arent here to light them. The remnants of warehouses and storage buildings rise ominously on the rocks, and wharfs, their brutal structures now crumbling as its battered year by year by winter waves. The windows, many of which are broken or missing, offer glimpses of dark, empty interiors where cats scrap, hunt, and play. The stone staircases leading down to the thin slithers of pebbled shores are now cracked and uneven, partially reclaimed by the relentless ocean.BATTERED CLIFFS... The cliffs rise dramatically from the sea a small swim from the main docks, their rugged faces battered and worn by centuries of relentless waves and harsh winds. Hundreds of nests cling precariously to every available ledge. The air is filled with the raucous cries of gulls, puffins, and gannets, their white and gray feathers stark against the dark rock. Birds swoop and dive in a chaotic dance around the cliffs.ERODING SHORES... The stony pebble beach stretches out in a wide arc along the most southern shoreline of the dockyard islands. The beach slopes gently toward the water, where the pebbles give way to larger rocks and boulders, their surfaces slick with seaweed and barnacles.FLOATING DOCKS... The abandoned dockyard sits eerily on a collection of barren, jagged rocks that jut out into the sea, off the coast of the city. The docks themselves are a mix of floating platforms and long, narrow piers that extend into the dark, choppy waters of the cursed ocean. The structures are made of weathered wood and metal, corroded and rusted iron and steel: everything showing signs of decay and neglect. The majority of the docks are floating, tethered to the small amount of docks built into the barren rocks humans decided to built upon. If the walkways aren't bobbing on the waters surface, they're contented to the sea-floor through sturdy pilings.GRIM MUDFLATS... The mudflats stretch out beneath the towering arches of two human stone bridges, connecting a Societys island to the mainland city. As the tide retreats, it reveals a vast expanse of thick, sticky mud, pockmarked with shallow pools of water. The mixture of brackish water and slick, dark earth clings to anything that touches it.Scattered across the mud are the remnants of the tide's retreat—an assortment of trinkets and forgotten objects half-buried in the muck. Among the tangled seaweed and driftwood, you might find old coins, rusted keys that have lost their locks, glass shards smoothed by the tide, and other items of value.HOWLING WAREHOUSES... Tall, narrow windows - many of them shattered or boarded up - line the walls of these grand warehouse in uneven rows, offering glimpses into the shadowy interiors. Inside, the vast spaces are filled with old barrens and boxes, where shafts of weak light filter through the battered ceilings. Old wooden beams, some cracked and splintered, span the ceilings, their weight sagging under years of damp and neglect.

NO MANS LAND
unclaimed landmarks & borders..

ABANDONED FARM... This farm was once thriving with a collection of farm animals; from big to small, cows and sheep and horses to chickens and ducks and piglets! Now all that remains are... bones. The skeletons of three humans can be found in the rotting bed that sits lonesomely inside the farm's cottage. The decaying horses and starving cows that roam the barren landscape besides the city outskirts are rumoured to be from this farm. The large, rotting barns offer safety from the elements for passing cats. The farm and its fields are the border between Corvid Colony and No Man's Land.BURNT FOREST... The forest was once where Thunderclan once lived but now its simple cinders; a scorched scar across the landscape to the north-east. Large branchless trunks are burnt black, stand dead in the fog-filled forest, like looming figures. A great place to dispose of your enemies!UNDERCITY... The "undercity" refers to the sewers and pipes and subway stations that twist like a metal warren under the city. The sewers are huge, filled with snakes and crocs and groggy water, whilst the subway systems are usually rat-filled with mushrooms lining the walls. They go throughout the entire city; the northern square, city centre, and outskirts. This is the main way that Corvid Colony magpies enter the city.OVERHEAD TRACKS... Much like the subway system but above ground, snaking above the low-rise buildings are train tracks and some roads; held up on metal frames or concrete pillars. Moss has begun to swallow the copper tracks. The tracks themselves act as a form of easy travel through the city, but can leave you incredibly open to birds of prey and to the intense weather. Corvid Colony cats uses the tracks to travel easily throughout the city, stealing from both Children of Starlight and Beasts and BloodCITIES END... The city abruptly drops off several feet into a large open space; fences of barbed wire and large stone walls with shards of broken glass atop of them all mark this sharp border on the cities side before the concrete walkway drops several feet down. Pipes dump sewage out into the barren landscape, adding to its infertility and poisoning, whilst offering access to the undercity. Trains disappear into the concrete foundation of the city, swallowed by tunnels. Above, high in the air on large stone pillars and bridges, are more train tracks leaning into the city, above the fog and raised above the city's pollution. This dropoff of the city is the border between Beasts and Blood and Corvid Colony, where the Battle of the Rat and Raven took place.TWIN BRIDGES... The twin bridges are two large stone bridges that connect the dockyard isles to the main land; this is the only form of connection to the mainland that Society of the Flood have. It's their highway to the Black Market. The bridges are patrolled constantly by Bluebottles. These two bridges are the only border for Society of the Flood and the rest of the city.THE ABYSS... An earthquake shook the city violently years ago and in the aftermath, a large cavern split the city in two. This was during the first few moons of all four factions living in the city, back when Twolegs still moved throughout the streets. The large cavern revealed a cross-section of the city; sewer systems spilling their waters as they burst from being ripped open, the underground train tracks opened like a cracked egg.Makeshift bridges were built across the large almost-bottomless crack by the twolegs and flexible pipes stretch across the opening, but the most prominent bridge across the abyss is a large underground train that stretches from one side to another, unnervingly very sturdy. Roots of trees and plants have grown aggressively around the train, grounding it on both sides, which makes it even more sturdy. This large cavern is the border between Children of Starlight and Beats and Blood

Fauna

Due to the intense levels of pollution, the entire ecosystem of the semi-abandoned city has felt its effects!
Large animals have become smaller and weaker, with odder qualities. Small, prey animals have become even smaller or more confident and bloodthirsty in their hunger; glowing rabbits, horned mice, bloodthirsty rats; anything is possible in this city.

Flora

Due to the intense levels of pollution, the entire ecosystem of the semi-abandoned city has felt its effects!
Flora has mutated oddly; the effects of herbs have been the first thing noted by the colonies of the city cats. Their effects have either become incredibly weak, as such the yew berries' poisonous effects, or incredibly powerful, as such the lavenders sedating effects,

MEDICAL PLANTS

LAVANDER... Lavandula Angustifolia
A flowering plant whose pollen and aroma induce a sleepy and tranquil feeling in the afflicted. They grow in fields, making some areas dangerous to go through without proper protection. Cats affected by Lulling Lavender become tired, calm, and suggestible, often not in a proper state of mind to rationality and use logic.
Medical Usage: These flowers can be hung up in the medics den to calm patients and hide the scent of death. It can also be swirled in water to create a type of tea for easy consumption. Can be forced onto erratic patients to soothe them.
Practical Usage: Lavender is often used to mask the scent of dead animals by rubbing it on the body. It's also commonly used by the Corvid Colony, who use the plant in traps to lull their prey into a suggestible state. Children of Starlight have also used Lulling Lavender to help ""persuade"" clanmates.
Risks: Consuming it raw instead of in tea-form means its affects are tripled; sometimes cats simply wont wake up.
Locations: They are more often found growing along Battered Cliffs. Sea of Grass has a few bushes on its edge.

POPPY... Papaver somniferum
A bright red flower with a black center. dries out into small pods that contain the seeds.
Medical Usage: The poppy seeds can be taken as an intense form of pain relief!
Practical Usage: -
Risks: They are INCREDIBLY addictive.
Location:

CATMINT... Nepeta Cataria
A perennial herb with an attractive aroma that can make even the strongest willed and serious of cats start frolicking about and play with moss balls. Its effects have been increased to be more potent due to the radiation, causing its feline attraction to be stronger and its dopamine-increasing effects to last longer. symptoms involve anxiety and intense fatigue. It grows around residential areas where Twolegs used to be. It can be pressed to extract the oils to reduce the side affects and increase the medical properties.
Medical Usage: Catmint is the best cure for Dockcough in oil form, placed under the tongue. Sucking on a leaf can reduce anxiety.
Practical Usage: Catmint is an effective insect repellent.
Risks: May become incredibly dangerous in high doses, causing blackouts or seizures.
Locations: Catmint can be found almost everywhere in the city, just takes a keen eye!

YARROW... Achillea Millefolium
A flowering plant with soft, jagged leaves and tiny white flowers.
Medical Usage: Small doses of yarrow leaves can be used to induce vomiting in a bid to expel poison, but care must be taken when measuring the amount of leaves needed. An ointment made from the leaves can be used to treat cracked paws.
Practical Usage: There are much better poisons to use when trying to hurt your enemies. Great for long term poisoning! mimacs a stomach bug.
Risks: When the leaves are eaten, they cause intense vomiting (sometimes causing blood to be spewed), before causing dehydration, lethargy, and weakness.
Location:

STINGING NETTLES... Urtica Dioica
A large plant that grows in stalks and bears spiny leaves. Due to the radiation, the stinging effects of the plant have become incredibly painful and last for days. It’s not lethal, but it can cause intense discomfort, swelling, itching, and sometimes blisters in affected areas. The needles that cause the stinging affect are hollow; allowing air to travel through the needles and that causes the intense irratrtion.
Medical Usage: The oil on the stinging nettle leaf can be applied to joints to help relieve joint pain. It can also be rubbed on bug bites for relief. Steeping the leafs of stinging nettle to make tea will help sooth upset stomachs and decrease inflammation.
Practical Usage: -
Risks: The needles of a stinging nettle stem will cause short-term stinging. If this happens, rub Bitter Dock onto the stings to relieve the pain, or apply any oily substance.
Locations: City Park, The Cemetry, City Streets all have stinging nettles.

HORSETAIL... Equisetum arvense
A tall, bristly-stemmed plant with fleshy stalks. Has a pungent and clean smell, and bitter sap.
Medical Usage: Chewed to a poultice and applied to wounds. Treats infections and stops bleeding for minor wounds. Stings when applied.
Practical Usage: -
Risks: -

GENERAL PLANTS

PITCHER PLANT.... Sarracenia minor
A carnivorous plant that, despite its scientific name, has grown to sizes that could entrap medium to small mammals. It has a sweet-smelling goo on its upper lid that small creatures may be tempted by to lick, where they then proceed to fall into the plant.
Medical Usage: -
Practical Usage: -
Risks: Cats may fall into the large trap with its thick bowl-shaped head and intensely slippery walls where they will be digested. If one does fall into a pitcher plant, then they can be easily cut out from the outside, if one has a companion to cut them free.
Locations: Botanical Garden is the best place too find these plants, they're very rare everywhere else. Some may be found along the banks of the Concrete Stream, with some of the plants even migrating into the Growling Swamp.

YEW BERRIES... Taxus Baccata
more commonly known as Deaths Berries, its a species of evergreen that grows red, poisonous berries. Consumption of these berries either lead to a painful death or a mild stomach ache, depending on luck alone thanks to the cities radiation mutating their affects. its a 50/50 chance of death. the odds increase the more you eat.
Medical Usage: eating half a Yew Berry may cause a pregnant cat to lose their kits.
Practical Usage: Berries are often used by the Corvid Colony during their Medic Promotion. If a Medic Apprentice eats a yew berry and lives, then they are promoted. They may be used for games of roullete or used in assassinations or self-assisted death but death is not always guaranteed.
Risk: Death.
Locations: There are a few yew trees found growing in the City Park.

MEADOW SAFFRON... Colchicum Autumnale
A flowering plant with large, purple flowers. doesn’t do anything to prey animals that ingest them, but it’s different for cats.
Medical Usage: -
Practical Usage: -
Risks: If a cat eats any part of this plant, something odd happens. Cats affected by Meadow Saffron will become incredibly lethargic, before slowly beginning to set themselves onto a spot on the ground and start believing they are a plant. They’ll be unresponsive to any cats trying to snap the victim out of it. Depending on what part of the plant is ingested, the outcome is different.
If the cat only ate a leaf or petal, then they will recover after a couple of days with no lasting consequences.
If any part of the pistil or the stamen of the flower are ingested, however, then the cat will slowly have roots grow within their body and leaves, budding flowers, and vines bloom from their flesh. Cats will die a week after ingesting, admiring the sun and muttering about growing.
Locations:

PARSLEY... Petroselinum crispum
A long-stemmed plant with ragged-edged crinkly leaves. Has a sharp scent and tastes cold and fresh.
Medical Usage: -
Practical Usage: Stops a nursing cat from producing milk. This is ideal for when kits die, as often as they do.
Risks: -

FUNGI

LUSTER...
A purple-pink shimmery fungi sound in damp, dark locations. It is tall and wet to the touch, with a slight glow to it. It drips a moist purple liquid that when adjusted can cause several effects.
Medical Usage The liquid applied to wound location can fend off approaching infections or chemical-related wound psionoing. It does not cure the infection but the liquid penerates the wound deeply.
Pratical Usage: Injesting the liquid in small doses gives the body a surge of energy and power. It is short lived but can give cats a well-needed boost in times of weakness.
Risks: Prolonged usage or a high dose is guaranteed to lead to addiction. Long term use of Luster will cause its user to form bloated purple lumps that are heavy, purple-stained eyes, and purple veins visible on the stomach and ears.

BITTER OYSTER... Panellus Stipticus
A bioluminescent fungus that grows in overlapping clusters on tree trunks, primarily on deciduous trees. Its glow is nigh constant, acting as decent light for any cats needing to see something in the deep deep darkness. Otherwise they’re pretty harmless (unless you happen to inhale a massive amount of its spores or consume too much of it cough cough).
Medical Usage: The fruiting bodies can be used to stop bleeding by packing them into the wound.
Practical Usage: If there’s an area too dark for you to see, then these mushrooms will help illuminate it. Grab a mushroom cap and it’ll glow brightly for hours until eventually fading.
Locations: Not very common anywhere… but it has begun cropping up more frequently upon the arrival of a strange cat. The ones that are already here are primarily in Corvid Colony Territory, hiding in dark areas.
